Things to Do at Higgins Lake

Below is a list of our favorite places to visit and things to do while we are spending time at the lake.

1. Spend the day at the South Higgins Lake State Park. There is always a lot of activity going on at the beach, from water games to people watching, keeping everyone entertained at all times. ​

 

2. Go to the Polar Parlor. They have the best pizza and ice cream. Vacation calories don't count! ;)

3. Take a quick walk to The Loom Room for some shopping. The Loom Room has a wide variety of Higgins Lake souvenirs, apparel, homemade fudge, gifts and beautiful and unique décor. This store is a short 2-minute walk from our home.

4. Enjoy the playgrounds at Markey Township Memorial Park. A fun spot for kids to play on any of the many play structures available or go for a stroll on the walking paths.

5. Take a drive to Houghton Lake for some shopping at Arnie's Arts N' Crafts. This store has over 30,000 sq. ft of shopping! Arts, crafts, apparel, gifts, home décor, you name it! It's hard not to spend your entire day shopping.

6. Play putt-putt at Pirate's Cove in Houghton Lake. Looking for some family fun? Take a short drive and enjoy the pirate-themed mini-golf course.

7. Go for a walk on the trails at Marl Lake. Marl Lake is located across from the Higgins Lake South State Park and features walking trails with beautiful views of the lake, canoeing or fishing. No motor boats allowed.

8. Enjoy the lakefront fireworks show. There are always fireworks on the lake, especially around the fourth of July holiday, giving you a front-row seat to the show.
